the boys

like all good parents of multiple kids we constantly compare them to each other. here's how eamon and hudson compare by height and weight. their increase in weight is inversely proportional to the health of kelley's back...

eamon is on track to be a solid 19+ pounds at 6 months. imagine how big they'd be if they actually ate food!

december!

woops. been a while since we blogged.

here's a nice collage to sum up the year

guess who's ready for christmas! hudson had fun helping me chop down the tree.

halloween is old news... but here's the evidence that hudson had a blast. i had to cut him off after a good hour of 40 degree trick-or-treating, he would have walked all night.

eamon is growing fast. here's hudson (at 6 months) and eamon (little over 4 months)

and a recent conversation for the nc state gang:

hudson: what's that? (pointing at my shirt)
brian: my El Rodeo shirt, that's a restaurant by NC State
hudson: i want to go there
brian: it is the greatest restaurant. they have free chips and dip
hudson: and food?
brian: yes!
hudson: i want to go there now!

3 month videos

more like 2.5 months for this video of Eamon

here's Hudson signing his two favorite U2 songs. Clearly he has the volume part down, some work to go on tone and pitch. He thinks Eamon's toy looks like microphone from U2 video...

3 months (or so)

Eamon will be 3 months old in a few days, time is flying! We'll see if he's still in top percentiles for height and weight. Our guess is yes based on 9 month clothes he's wearing now. Soon we'll be re-baby proofing the house...

Everyone's doing well. Hudson is getting excited for Halloween. He started preschool a few weeks ago and is loving it. Two days a week for couple hours each day.

Random Hudson story - Kelley was holding him and commented on how his ears were dirty. He replied by singing "not my fault, not my fault" over and over.

slightly older pics...

Hudson indulges Kelley by pretending he needs her help. But really he knows how to build a home depot kit with his eyes shut at this point.

loving his music these days!

summer videos

hudson did this for about 30 mins one night. run to living room, shake hands wildly (dancing maybe?), run into his room, shut door, dive into bed, repeat. turned out he had a poopy diaper and was just so free and full of energy to have that thing sitting in his pullup.

eamon getting some good play mat time in

hudson grooving to the air show

newer playmat video

summer blog

this blog will be like one of those movies where they jump around in time a bunch and its confusing. but not because i'm making an artistic statement. because i'm lazy and we're so far behind on blogging i just uploaded a bunch of random pictures

labor day weekend we were getting really tired of being at home so packed in the car and drove the coast. traffic was super backed up to get to cannon beach (closest beach to portland) so we drove further south to oceanside. not a single parking spot to be found so we apologized to hudson and said how about we go to tillamook factory for some ice cream. super long line there so we said how about we go to mcdonald's for some ice cream. as you can see, he was pretty happy to have his first ice cream cone. he's had plenty of ice cream, but this was first time in cone version. lots of driving to go to mcdonalds, but it was a nice scenic drive and eamon slept almost whole time, so worth it.

just had long weekend visit with granddad. went to washing park and had fun on swings and in the giant sand box.

hudson showing granddad how to play tractors in the snow (salt)
we've tried multiple times to get a family pic. this is best so far. happy family for sure, but we now realize getting a baby and 2.5 year old to sit still and halfway smile is hard. guess thats why people pay professional photographers...

hudson loves his little brother. calls him baby "A". eamon is off to good start growing wise, already wearing 6 month clothes (and some of the 3 month clothes still fits). still got some work to do to catch big brother.

went with granddad to the Enchanted Forrest in Salem. fun park for kids, spent a lot of time on this train that was clearly not designed for 6'3" human folks.
already filling out the car seat

hudson got a big rig from uncle ross's old collection. he's all about cars these days, with a dash of helicopters and airplanes. lots of crashes these days too.
enjoying probably our last hot summer day. we got ripped off this year when it comes to warm weather. such is oregon...

hudson showing off his shrinky-dink creations. you color on clear plasticy material, then cook in oven and it shrinks. he's been making lots of fridge magnets with mom.

finally a solution to bath time water in the eyes! can't see it that well here, but he's got snake eyes

brian and hudson went to the hillsboro airshow with nate. lots of cool planes and helicopters you could walk up to. hudson especially enjoyed the start of show when super loud F-18s flew just above the ground near by then went straight up in the air.

nana came out for some much needed help around the house weeks 1 to 4 of eamon world. was super busy and time flew by! glad we have such good nana/gramma/granddad and grandpa to help out. their grandsons really love them!

Video Update

some videos for your viewing pleasure

Hudson meeting Eamon at the hospital

hudson wearing his work gloves, listening to MP3 player eamon got him

we've been trying to cut the couch in half for a few days now, hudson just can't find the right power tool to get the job done

hudson decided his steering wheel toy was broken the other day and that Handy Manny (kids tv show) was only one that could fix it. So he called Handy Manny and asked him to come fix it. Now he's asking Handy Manny's advice on cutting the couch in half. Still no luck.

Calling his Silly Grandpa (Grandpa Mick aka kelley's dad)for couch cutting advice. Was about to call Grandad (Terry aka brian's dad) too but something outside distracted him. Could be the sun, haven't seen much of it lately...

Hudson is definitely stepping up the cuteness in response to Eamon. Eamon is sleeping a lot and not much else so far. Had his first bath which he wasn't a fan of. He's got quite the power behind his pee. Hit Dad in the shirt first night in the hospital. Got Kelley and the wall next to his changing pad twice at home. Other than that, all's well and we're a happy family!

Hudson, Gramma Buh and Brian went to see Cars 2 in the theater. Hudson's first trip to movies. He did really well, sat for at least a good hour mesmerized, barely blinking. However once he pooped and had to be changed on bathroom floor (he insisted) it kind of went down hill. Made it till about 10 mins left in the movie then gave up. Not a big deal because we'll see the move 100 times over once its out on DVD. Was a lot of fun overall and Hudson was really happy to get to go.

Eamon Arrives!

Welcome to the blog Eamon Henry Pedersen! Eamon was born Thursday July 14th at 5:53am, 20.5" long and 7lbs 14ounces (10 ounces heavier and 0.25" shorter than Hudson). Due date was July 24th, so probably for the best he came early as big as he already is. We got to come home Friday afternoon.

Kelley and Eamon are doing well, first pediatrician appointment this morning went smoothly. Hudson is very excited to have a little brother. Has done a good job helping around the house, holding Eamon, and giving him some kisses (basically leans in his head and holds it next to Eamon).

First picture with mom

Hudson meeting little brother, he call's him Baby A

Only problem so far is Eamon was born with long finger nails and was scratching up his face, so he gets to wear mittens for a while.

way more pictures to come soon... but its nap time for Brian

Nanna Visit

Had a fun visit from Nanna... who is better at taking pictures than us so she gets credit for all the Hudson pictures in this blog.

Out for some ice cream with Nanna
Play area in the mall by our house (and by the ice cream place). Hudson knows how to get there and will point the way when on walks.

When Dad grills Hudson is right there next to him.

Soccer class, the actual soccer part in the beginning. Brian pass to Hudson is roughly on par with Xavi to Messi

Another trip to home depot on first Saturday of the month, another planter built.

So helpful. How would Dad ever get anything done without Hudson?

Uncle Ross wins brownie points for finding a few of the hard to find Cars for Hudson.

Brian and Kelley got a night in Seattle to see U2 while Nanna and Hudson stayed in Portland. Fun was had by all. Seattle concert crowd much better than LA concert crowd. Lenny Kravitz much much much less annoying than Black Eyed Peas (for an opening band)

Crazy Boy

Fun times at Farmington Gardens riding in the wagon and buying plants for the backyard. Hudson especially enjoys digging holes and finding worms. Talks a lot about bees. Not clear yet if he's for them or against them.

Fun new toy Hudson picked out using gift card from Nanna.

Documenting the growth of his seeds from Home Depot trip with Ian and co last month

If you load up your cart at home depot and have a cute kid they'll give you an American flag. Hudson says don't mess with his flag!

Bath time is lots of fun these days. It starts with bubbles

Then he insists on getting out to sit on the toilet, which he has yet to pee/poop in. Really it's because Hudson knows he gets a cookie for trying to go.
Then back to some more fun.

And finally it ends in tears because he hates getting water in his eyes.

Tough dude strutting his stuff

Hudson found Nanna's leftover soda in the garage and talked Dad into splitting a can with him. Started off cute enough...

still cute...

oh my! should have cut him off! Actually we can explain why our baby looks like he's been on an all night bender... Crazy hair from wearing safety goggles on his forehead. Red eyes from crying when I first said no soda. Skin discoloration on arm is actually stamps from soccer. And of course orange mouth due to soda.

"Soccer" class... 20-50% soccer, rest of time running around doing fun stuff like this.

Finally here's Hudson showing off his newest fav words... NC State. Sometimes the "state" part is silent, but we know what he means.
